Bali Bombers Condemn Indonesian Government as Infidels

Cilacap, Indonesia (ANTARA News) - Two of the three Bali bombers awaiting execution for the attacks that killed over 200 people on Wednesday condemned Indonesian authorities as enemies of Islam.

Convicted terrorists Ali Ghufron and Imam Samudra, who are on death row in an island prison off Central Java, released statements to the media through their lawyers as the government prepared their executions by firing squad.

"Dying as a martyr is my ambition, my dream, and my hope," Ghufron wrote.

"If God wills that I be executed by infidels, including hypocrites and apostates, because I am fighting jihad in the way of God, then that means that my greatest ambition has been achieved."

Samudra, who chose the tourist nightspots targeted in the 2002 blasts on the holiday island of Bali, accused Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and the judiciary of being "forces of Satan."

I wouldn't really call the government infidels ..........kafirized hypocrite Muslims would be a more appropriate label because the bombers were acting in accordance to Muhammad's teachings and actions and are being punished by fellow Muslims for harming or killing infidels. That goes against Muhammad's teachings.

Bali Bombers Execution Delayed

From AKI Adnkronos

Bali, 21 August (AKI) - The three Islamic militants convicted of the 2002 Bali bombing have been given a stay of execution due to the upcoming holy fasting month of Ramadan in September.

Fearing a backlash from the Muslim community, Indonesian authorities have decided to delay the execution of Amrozi, his brother Mukhlas and Imam Samudra.

The three were convicted of planning and carrying out the nightclub bombings (Photo) in October 2002 which was the worst act of terrorism in Indonesia.

The attacks killed 202 people, most of them foreign tourists, and injured another 209 people.

The Indonesian Attorney general's office had said it hoped to execute the Islamist militants who were convicted in 2003, before the Muslim holy month of Ramadan begins in early September.

It is now expected to be delayed until after Ramadan.

The three convicted terrorists, members of the militant Islamist Jemaah Islamiyah, are at Nusakambangan prison island in Central Java.

Is anyone surprised? It will probably be delayed longer after Ramadan while the argument as to whether it is halal for the Islamic terrorists to be shot instead of beheaded as per Shariah Law. Maybe in 2009?

Attack Forces Christians Off Campus

Yes, Indonesia the model Muslim country for tolerance and democracy. Can you imagine if it was Christians trying to shut down a pesantren? The government, army and Brimob would be there in a split second (along with Front Pembela Islam, Hizbut Tahrir, MMI, and other Islamofascists who like to spit on the Pancasila and want to get rid of the infidels).

JAKARTA, INDONESIA: Hundreds of Christian theology students have been living in tents since a mob of angry Muslim neighbors stormed their campus last month wielding bamboo spears and hurling Molotov cocktails.

The incident comes amid growing concern that Indonesia's tradition of religious tolerance is under threat from Islamic hard-liners.

In talks since the attack, the Arastamar Evangelical School of Theology has reluctantly agreed to shut its 20-year-old campus in east Jakarta, accepting an offer this week to move to a small office building on the other side of the Indonesian capital.

"Why should we be forced from our house while our attackers can walk freely?" asked the Rev. Matheus Mangentang, chairman of the 1,400-student school.

The government of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, which relies on the support of Islamic parties in Parliament, is struggling to balance deep Islamic traditions and a secular constitution. With elections coming next April, the government seems unwilling to defend religious minorities, lest it be portrayed as anti-Islamic in what is the world's most populous Muslim-majority country.
