Police yet to name suspects in Poso bomb blasts

Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Central Sulawesi police have yet to name any suspect in the series of bomb blasts and destruction of the Pamona Timor police station in Poso over the weekend, National Police spokesman Brig Gen Anton Bachrul Alam said here on Tuesday. "Police will continue to investigate the bomb explosions case in Poso," Anton said, adding that the mystery behind the destruction of the Pamona Timur police station also had yet to be uncovered. But Anton failed to mention whether or not the Central Sulawesi police were trying to hunt the culprits. "Police have questioned four witnesses in the case," Anton said. He added that those involved in the bomb explosions and the destruction of the Pamona Timur police station were from a certain group of people who did not want to see peace and security prevail in Poso. "The bomb blasts and the destruction of the Pamona Timur police station are the acts of a small group of people who do not want to see peace and security in Poso," Anton said. But he also said the situation in Poso had now returned to normal.
Early Saturday morning, there were five bomb explosions in Poso but there were no reports of casualties. The first blast occurred after midnight Friday near Maranatha Church and one hour after that the second blast took place near the Poso Selatan subdistrict office. They were followed by three other blasts but no casualty was reported. Meanwhile, National Defence Forces (TNI) chief Marshal Djoko Suyatno said here on Tuesday two platoons of military troops had been sent to Poso to help the local police maintan peace and order. "We have sent two platoons of soldiers to assist local security agencies in securing the situation there," Djoko Suyanto said here on Tuesday.

Since police said "those involved in the bomb explosions and the destruction of the Pamona Timur police station were from a certain group of people who did not want to see peace and security prevail in Poso" it's safe to say that it is probably the same group of Muslims responsible for bombings prior to the executions. The police know who these bombers are but the bombers are backed by influential Muslims.
