Homemade bomb explodes in Poso

Palu (ANTARA News) - A home-made bomb has exploded in Indonesia's religiously-divided Poso district, where tension has been rising since three Christians were executed, police said Sunday. Police believe the blast, which took place at the Poso district office late Saturday, was caused by a home-made bomb packed in a plastic container, spokesman Muhammad Kilat was quoted by AFP as saying. He added that there were no casualties or damage, while ElShinta radio reported that there was no one in the office at the time of the explosion. The blast was the latest to hit Central Sulawesi after a home-made bomb exploded behind an empty house not far from Poso on October 8. Unrest in several Christian-dominated areas of Indonesia, the world's most populous Muslim nation, erupted following the executions last month. Clashes between people of the two faiths claimed about 1,000 lives each in Central Sulawesi in 2000 and 2001.
