PADMA says executions are illegal

PADMA, the Indonesia Justice and Peace Advocasy Service, says the execution of Fabianus Tibo, Dominggus da Silva and Marinus Riwu is illegal as President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono hasn't rejected the men's second clemency plea yet. PADMA team coordinator for the three men, Roy Rening, said that when executions that are decided and conducted without all legal avenues exhausted then the execution is illegal. He said that they hadn't received a response on the second clemency plea from the President so clearly the execution as it stands now is illegal and appears that Attorney General Abdul Rahmen Saleh and Head of Police General Sutanto are trying to push the execution through. Only the President can prevent the three men from being executed now. Earlier, in their first plea, President Yudhoyono declined to grant clemency and there are no signs that he is about to change his mind.
